Privacy Policy - How TruckerConnections Protects Your Data
Straight talk on what we collect, why we collect it, and the control you have over it. No legal fog, no buried clauses.

What Information We Collect
TruckerConnections collects only the data needed to verify members, surface route-matched connections, and keep scammers off the platform. We separate what you give us voluntarily from what your device shares automatically.
Information You Provide
- Account basics: name, email address, date of birth (to confirm 18+), and profile username.
- Profile details: photos, age, height, build, occupation, home base, primary lanes (I-10, I-40, I-80, I-95, etc.), and personal interests you choose to share.
- Identity verification: selfie photo for the verified badge and, optionally, a government-issued ID for the gold verification tier.
- Communications: messages, waves, and connection requests you send through the platform.
- Billing data: for premium subscriptions, our payment processor handles card data - we store only the last four digits and billing ZIP.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device data: device ID, model, operating system, browser type, and screen resolution.
- Network data: IP address, internet service provider domain, and mobile carrier when applicable.
- Usage data: pages visited, time on site, profiles viewed, and feature interactions.
- Approximate location: derived from IP and, with your permission, GPS or Wi-Fi signals.
What we never collect
Social security numbers, full payment card details (handled by our PCI-DSS payment processor), CDL license numbers, employer records, or health information. We are a dating platform, not a background check service.
Location Data and Route Matching
Route Compatibility is the feature drivers come to us for - but it depends on location signals. Here is exactly how that works.
How route-match uses your location
By default, the approximate distance between you and other members is visible inside the app so you can find people near your lanes and truck stops. Your exact home address is never displayed - only city, region, and primary highway corridors you list.
You can reduce precision in Settings → Privacy: hide distance entirely, blur your home city to a 50-mile radius, or pause location sharing while you're on a sensitive run. Even with the strictest settings on, a determined and technical user could potentially infer approximate location from interaction patterns - no online platform can guarantee absolute geographic anonymity, and we want to be upfront about that.
Location data is used for matching, fraud prevention, and showing the right state and city hub when you visit. It is not sold to advertisers and is not used to build third-party advertising profiles.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
TruckerConnections uses both session cookies (which expire when you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which remember you on return visits). We also use web beacons and persistent device identifiers to keep you signed in across truck-stop Wi-Fi sessions and to flag suspicious account activity.
Analytics partners - including Google Analytics - help us understand which pages are useful and which need fixing. They receive page views, IP address, browser type, and time-on-page. Advertising partners may serve relevant ads on third-party sites; you can opt out of personalized ads in your account settings.
Browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal that has no industry-wide standard meaning. We do not currently respond to it, but you can manage cookies directly through the in-app preference center or your browser. For the full breakdown - categories, vendors, expiration windows, and opt-out controls - read our Cookie Policy.
Your Rights - GDPR and CCPA Compliance
If you live in the European Union, United Kingdom, or California, you have specific rights over your personal data. We honor the same rights for every TruckerConnections member, no matter where you live.
- Right to access - request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification - correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Right to erasure - delete your account and personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Right to restrict processing - pause how we use your data while a dispute is resolved.
- Right to object - opt out of profiling, marketing, or specific data uses.
- Right to portability - receive your data in a machine-readable export.
- Right to know (CCPA) - see what categories of data we collect and share.
- Right to non-discrimination - exercise any right above without losing platform access.
To exercise any right, email [email protected] from your registered address. Data exports are generated through the desktop website (not the mobile app) and delivered within 30 days. For cross-border transfers, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. EU residents may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.
How Long We Keep Your Information
Active account data is kept for as long as your profile is open. If you delete your account, profile content (photos, bio, messages you sent) is removed within 30 days. We retain a minimal record - account ID, email hash, and date of closure - for up to 24 months to prevent banned users from rejoining and to comply with fraud-prevention obligations.
Billing records are kept for seven years to satisfy U.S. tax and accounting rules. Anonymized analytics data (no name, no email, no IP) may be retained indefinitely for product research.
To request deletion or a data export, write to [email protected]. You'll get an acknowledgement within 72 hours and a final response within 30 days. For more on staying safe while you wait for a meet, see our Safety Tips and review the platform Terms & Conditions.
